Looking to book a prison visit online?

When scheduling a prison visit, you have a few choices. You can either call the prison directly or book a prison visit online.

Phone calls can be incredibly time consuming and frustrating, with the person who answers the phone at the prison usually providing erroneous information. My recommendation is to book a prison visit online. If you want to call, a list of the jails and their phone numbers can be found here.

TAKE AT LEAST TWO FORMS OF ID WHEN YOU VISIT THE PRISON! You are likely to be turned away without. Take a bundle with you, including your driver's licence or passport and a recent utility bill with your name and address on it. If you require prison assistance, please click here.

What to Expect on a Prison Visit:

Arrive early, be prepared to queue, and bring your ID. Take money with you, approximately £20 is the allowance, some just want you to bring coins and not notes (for security reasons), as most prisons have a cafe and, trust me, the prisoners would love it!

If you intend to bring property for the prisoner, this is normally not permitted during visits. There are certain drop-off days for property, so verify with the jail or receive the information from the prisoner.

You may embrace at the beginning and end of the visit, but you and the prisoner must remain seated for the length of the visit. Prison officers are frequently seen socialising and running laps around the prison visiting hall.

Will I Get Searched at The Prison Visit?

Yes, everyone entering the prison will be searched; you will be required to place your possessions in a locker and will be subjected to a general airport-style pat down and check before to entry. Drug dogs are occasionally present.
