How to book a visit at HM Prison Askham Grange

You can book your visit by telephone. There is no online booking service available.

Booking line: 0300 060 6513
Monday to Friday, 9.15am to 4pm

Visiting times: Saturday and Sunday: 2pm to 3pm.

All visitors aged 16 and older need to bring one of the following types of photo ID:

• passport
• driving licence
• benefit book
• senior citizen’s public transport pass
• annual public transport season ticket (with photo card)
• employer ID card (if it shows the name of the visitor and the employer)
• European Community identity card

The nearest train station to Askham Prison is York Station, you will need to take a bus from there to Askham Richard except on a Sunday. There is also a taxi rank at the station should you need it.

If you are driving, There is a visitors car park at Askham Grange, including space for Blue Badge holders.

What to expect at the Visit at Askham Grange:

All visitors will need to be given a pat-down search, including children. You may also be sniffed by security dogs.

We suggest that you take in sufficient cash to buy food and drink from the tea bar in the visiting hall, the prisoner you are visiting will be greatly appreciative.
