Addiewell Prison Information

Addiewell Prison is a correctional facility located in West Lothian, Scotland. Addiewell Prison was officially opened in 2008 to replace the aging HMP Edinburgh and provide a more modern and efficient correctional facility. The prison was constructed as a public-private partnership project between the SPS and Kalyx, a consortium consisting of a number of private companies.

Booking a visit to Addiewell Prison
How to book a visit at HM Prison Addiewell

Convicted residents at the prison can book their own visits using technology on the wings.

For those on remand, they can also book their own visits but have to give at least 24 hours notice.

Addiewell Prison Visit Times

The visiting times at the Prison are as follows:

Visiting hours are:
13:30 – 15:45 Monday-Friday,
17:00- 20:15 Tuesday-Friday,
14:00 – 17:00 and 10:00 – 12:30 (children’s visits) Saturday-Sunday.

You can not just turn up to visit a prisoner, this needs to be done online or by phone on the Booking Line 01506874500

Alternatively, visitors can book remand visits (allowing 24 hours notice) using the dedicated phone line: 01506 874 500 and select option two (open Monday – Friday 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm).

When phoning the visits booking number visitors should know the individual’s name, number, date of birth, the date and time of the required visit and details of who is visiting.

Visitors will need to provide names, dates of births and addresses.
